OpenPhonyx features

OpenPhonyx will be much more framework than only PBX. You can download either end user version CD and just use it or download developer DVD and help to develop!

OpenPhonyx is not just software

Like Phonyx, OpenPhonyx should be entire PBX system. Administrator should be able to configure OpenPhonyx without knowledge of systems and software used inside.

Based on Debian

OpenPhonyx is based on famous  Debian project. Do you know better? Just flame :)

Based on asterisk today

OpenPhonyx is based on  asterisk software. Maybe another or more VoIP software in future. Maybe combinations. It is not most important, because API and CLI will be same even if PBX core was changed.

Includes agi bindings to programming languages

Openphonyx includes phpagi, asterisk-perl etc. You can easily start to develop your own application.

Embeding support

OpenPhonyx is prepared to support embeding in x86 HW (Like soekris). We are planing to support more architectures. It is important to divide user config, temporary files and binary data to ensure easy upgrading.

Database backends

OpenPhonyx will support many configuration backends (LDAP, local SQL, local DB, ...)

Commandline

Primary management interface should be commandline interpreter. It is discused under cli section. We have to ensure we can setup entire PBX using commandline (no Linux shell).

Accounting and services

OpenPhonyx is not only PBX. But intelligent PBX with accounting. It means it knows pricelists, prepaid, postpaid and CDR export natively.
